If you find your JustRide app crashes regularly, we recommend performing the steps below.
Software update - We recommend that you ensure your Android device is up to date with the latest software update available. This may resolve any OS related issue, as well as improve the overall performance of your device.
Uninstall and reinstall the app - If your software is up to date or the update did not resolve your issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Note that this may cause a device switch to register on Android.
Restart the device - Sometimes when you don’t restart your device in several days, apps start to freeze and crash randomly. This may be due to a memory glitch. If this does not resolve the issue, follow these steps to clear the app data:
Clear app cache and data -
1. Select the Settings menu on your device.
2. Find Apps (or Applications, depending on your device) in the menu, then locate the app that you want to clear the cache or data for.
3. Tap on Storage and the buttons for clearing the cache and app data will become available.
Advanced Troubleshooting
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to try these advanced actions.
Factory Reset - Reset the device to factory default, or backup to a saved version of your device profile. It’s important to note that you do not use a backup file, you may lose all applications and saved data, so ensure that you back up your device prior to performing the reset.
Step 1: Enabling Developer Options
Enabling Developer Options on your Android device gives you a few more advanced settings. Other than making these additional settings visible, it will not make any changes to your device. Here’s how to enable them:
- Visit your device’s Settings app and select About phone. It is typically the last one in the main Settings or if the Settings app is broken into sections, it might be in a tab like “General" or “Device”.
- In the “About” section, scroll down to the Build number - it’s typically the last one - and tap it 10 times until you see a message that says “You are now a developer!”. Developer Options are now enabled.
- Tap the back button to leave the “About” page. The new Developer Options item will now be shown directly under or above “About phone”.
Step 2: Capture a Bug Report
Here’s how to capture a Bug Report:
- Reproduce the issue that you are seeing (App crashes when started)
- After reproducing the issue, go into the main Settings app and select Developer Options.
- Tap Take bug report (you may need to toggle the “On" switch at the top first). After a few minutes, you will receive a prompt to email the bug report. Send the report to the transportation agency customer service.
Note: If the Take bug report option is disabled, please try enabling the USB Debugging option in Developer Options and try again.
